Seahawks
Water Polo Team

Water polo is one of the fastest growing sports in Chicago and the western suburbs. It is a competitive team sport that mixes the best of basketball, soccer, and hockey (not to mention swimming!). The Huntington Estates Water Polo program strives to introduce players to the sport and develop their skills through four practices a week and games against other subdivision teams in Naperville.

Our league, the Naperville Summer Subdivision Water Polo League, administers the program and runs a season consisting of a couple games a week.  The league consistently stresses an instructional, fun, and competitive approach to the game.  Typically the league has a season ending championship tournament but that will very likely not occur this year because of the pandemic.

If you like to swim and have fun on a team, come join our Water Polo team!

No experience necessary!  We also realize families are super busy so we know players may miss some practices/games.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

Sign-up preference is given to HEBT members.  If we do not fill our team roster by the start of the season, we will open spots to members of neighboring pools that do not have polo teams until we fill our team.  In the past we have, however, been very accommodating for neighboring pool members.

AGE: 8-14 (you must be 8 yrs. old by May 31st and may play through 8th grade). Players must be able to swim at least 25 yards freestyle without stopping.

We typically field 3 teams: 11&Under (U11) Coed, 14&Under (U14) Coed, and 14&Under (U14) Girls.  If our opponent has a girls team then it will be the coaches discretion which girls play both U14 Coed and U14 Girls.

PRACTICES: We are working through our practice times due to the unique school schedule this year. Our first practice is likely Sunday, June 6th in the morning.  We will likely have a team meeting immediately following. Practices are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays right after the Seahawks swim practice.  Sunday practice will be from 9am-10am unless there’s a Sunday morning game.

GAMES: Weekday games will occur on Monday, Wednesday, some Friday evenings, and some Sunday morning/evening games.  The league will be standardizing weekday games along the following schedule: 5:30 pm Warm-Up; 6:00 pm U11 Games; 6:45 pm U14 Girls Games; 7:30 pm U14 Coed Games. If a team does not have a girls team then the U14 Coed game will occur at 6:45 pm.  Sunday games will either be in the morning or evening with any Sunday evening games will follow the weekday time schedule.

COST: Planned 2020 fees were $125 for members and $175 for non HEBT members.  We are in process of determining if any increases will be necessary this year.  Fees will include any necessary league mandated insurance.
